A hang over and a heap of onions!

Last Sunday morning after a really fun party at our house I woke my friend Kate up for coffee and an onion harvest. She spent the night because it is just plain lame to drink tequila and drive.I was a little hung over as I had tried tequila for the first time in over ten years.  I am surprised that worked out as well as it did… I woke Scott up by announcing that we “need a photographer!” What a good sport he is!

The sun was hiding behind the fog as we made our way down to the garden, perfect onion pulling weather. The onions had been in the ground since January and the stalks were starting to fall over. I was really surprised we got so many big ones! I attribute the size of the onions to the heaping piles of rabbit manure we tilled into the ground before planting.  Kate always the fabulous artist made this bouquet from the onion flowers. It is in the hallway because even though it is pretty it reeks! Well the onions are harvested and we created a new space to plot and plan, I think I will put in Dahlias and strawberries. Happy harvesting all!
