Every July we get a “rodent bloom. Today Scott and I were cleaning the chicken area and discovered a nest of baby rats under the small barn in the bantam run. What a score! Not only will I have less rodent entrails to step in on the way to make coffee almost every morning, I get to feed my chickens a protein rich snack. Chickens will eat pretty much anything they can catch and these are a special treat!

Is that a chicken with the long neck?
Good morning Stacy! It sure is a chicken! They are called naked necks or turkins. I love them they are so ugly but really smart.
